At the Respite Woodshop we believe that furniture has two values. The first is utility in the physical and conscious state. Designs from the Arts and Crafts movement is Respite's rudder. Unlike older and traditional styles, Arts and Crafts styles tend to encourage the wood grain to be intrinsic with the furniture, embellished only by the subtleties of craftsman joinery. What makes this natural beauty complete is that this style of furniture connotes purpose.

The second value in furniture is its utility in the spiritual and unconscious state. With so many active draws to your attention at home (television, internet, bills, family), your living space can become a place of anxiety and discomfort. So we design furniture for serenity and reflection, leaving you open to a state of rest and relaxation, both physically and mentally.

Most importantly, we make only vessels. Whichever spiritual beliefs you build your life on matters only to you. Our furnishings are spiritual tools, but it's personal belongings or religious items that complete your connection to yourself.
